I couldn't tell you the last time I was at a parade. I've been in them. But just as a spectator. Well, I took Camryn to her first parade today. The neighbors set up a couple of tents, one of them even set up a create your own omelet bar. It was beautiful weather today.
From best I could tell, Camryn enjoyed herself. It took a few times of kind of "begging" for her when the floats came by, but she left with a pretty good haul. She had a couple of buds her age to play with all morning. I went on the 7k run in the morning and she hung out with them. Unfortunately, Craig and Darcy never made it before they closed off the streets. At least we'll know for next year.

Happy Birthday!
My sweet Camryn Rose is 5 years old. Amazing! She is such a wonderful little girl.
She wears her emotions on her sleeves. Can be so sensitive to the slightest issue that's gone wrong. She's, for the most part, a rule follower. Pretends she is competitive, but really isn't. Has zero filter on what she says and to whom she says it. She has an amazingly good heart. Wants the best for everyone. Loves to entertain (even though she sings as bad as me...ha!). A wonderful big sister. Darcy loves her so much. I can see it when she lights up when Camryn walks in the room.
This past year has been a tougher one for Camryn. She's learned how to share her mom & dad time, and has acted out of character at times to tip the attention scale in her favor. That's normal I suppose. She's in a transition phase. At least it seems. At some things, she chooses to excel and absorb as much knowledge as she can (academics, games, figuring out electronics). And others she wants us to do for her or help when she's very capable of doing herself (picking out clothes, getting dressed and taking a bath).
She's learning to read with ease. Her teacher says she picks things up so quickly and sure enough, she's trying to read books to Craig and I know at bedtime instead of us reading to her.
I think what I've noticed most of all this past year is the vocab lesson I felt like I gave every day. She's constantly asking what something means. Which I find hard to articulate sometimes, because occassionally my explaination would have another word in it that she doesn't know. And the cycle continued.
As I've said earlier, she's drama with a capital D, but I love her and wouldn't change a thing.

Jumping for Fun
Camryn opted for a birthday party with friends this year at a place called Jump4Fun. She had such a great time. I'm amazed at how they shuffle those kids to different spots with such ease. There were 16 kids running around like maniacs for 75 minutes. I have gone on runs that long, but nothing like these kids were doing. They were sprinting up and down the hall from one bounce thing to the next. And then climbing up stairs, going through obstacle courses and just jumping. Halfway through I dropped my camera and broke it. (Thank you, Maurita for always having yours in your purse.) So...once I get those pics from Maurita, I will add more.

Beautiful day for the butterfuly house
So mom tipped us off that March is the month they release 3000 blue morpho butterflies at the Butterfly House in Faust Park. Now that I have landed myself a sweet job I feel like I can relax a bit and really enjoy the next month. I am going to try to enjoy as many Tues & Thursday afternoons as I can with Cam and Darcy. Those are the 2 days of the week Camryn is home so I will be venturing out for some serious stay at home mom activities while I still can. Plus, it's nicer weather, so might as well enjoy that too.
Today we made our way to the see the blue morhpos and stopped by the St. Louis Carousel while we were there. The butterflies were awesome. And only 1000 have been released so far. It's overwhelming at first because they swoop by you when you first walk in but it's really cool. Got a few belly laughs out of Darcy. She was plenty entertained.
